[July 15, 2009]  CHEMUNG -- Alice Emma Ida Freese, 89, a lifelong resident of Chemung, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard, with the Rev. Herbert Priester officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time.

Burial will be in Dunham-Chemung Cemetery.

Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home in Harvard is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Freese worked at Richardson Pharmacy in Harvard for many years.

She was born on Feb. 8, 1920, in Harvard to Edward J. and Hattie Zimmerman Koltz. She married Albert Christopher Freese on May 4, 1940, in Harvard. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1968.

She is survived by three sons, Gary (and Patricia) Freese of Lincoln, Colin (and Louise) Freese of Lexington, Mass., and Clinton (and Kathy) Freese of Rice Lake, Wis.; four grandchildren, Angela (and Tim) Pettyjohn of Halltown, Mo., Lauren (and John) Nawrocki of North Reading, Mass., Meredith Freese of Lexington, Mass., and Benjamin (and Megan) Freese of Crystal Lake; two great-grandsons, Colton Pettyjohn and Benjamin Freese; one step-great-granddaughter, Lindsay (and Chad) Steele in Afghanistan; and two sisters, Marie Hoey of Harvard and Esther Marvin of California.

She was also preceded in death by one brother.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard.
