Now that is a fan! This large fan operates on a 5 horsepower motor and is used in fighting massive structure fires, plus it can be used for mass cooling during extremely hot weather. According to Lincoln Fire Department Chief Kent Hulett, this is just one of several pieces of equipment that are on loan to the city through an Illinois mutual aid program. The state program is funded by taxpayer dollars and makes available a large variety of specialized equipment that most municipalities cannot afford to own on their own.

The chief says that this large fan would cost in excess of $200,000 to purchase but is provided through the program free of charge.
