Lincoln Daily News welcomes letters of appreciation, information and opinion on matters pertaining to the community.

Controversial issues:
As a community we need to be able to talk openly about matters that affect the quality of our lives. The most effective and least offensive manner to get your point across is to stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on another person's opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

HardwareTo the editor:

We would like to acknowledge several businesses in downtown Lincoln. On Feb. 8, the fifth annual Looking for Lincoln dinner was held at the Maple Club, celebrating the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday. Contributions were made for the drawings held that evening for the guests.

We want to recognize the following food establishments that contributed gift certificates for the memorable event: the Blue Dog Inn, Bryant's Cafe, Culver's, Dickson's Tacos and More, First Wok, Guzzardo's Italian Villa and Hallie's on the square. Their gift certificates for our door prizes added an excitement to the evening and an appreciation from the recipients.

The committee wants to thank these establishments for their generous donations.
