LC Lynx beat ICC in region championship 58-46, move on to nationals

[March 11, 2009]  The Lincoln College Lynx defeated Illinois Central 58-46 in the Region 24 championship game played at Lincoln Christian College on Tuesday evening. Lincoln advances to the NJCAA DII nationals on March 18, when the Lynx will play at 8:30 p.m. versus Morton College.

LC's Darius Adams of MacArthur was chosen as region player of the year.

Darius finished with a game-high 22 points, helping the Lynx to a 26-20 halftime lead. Cortez Augusta had 14 points; Farmer and Davis had six points each; Gavin had four points, as did Ethan Neitzel; and Chris Ware had two points. Lincoln was 22-of-25 from the foul line.

"Our guys were able to handle their pressure. I am very proud of this team and what they have accomplished," said coach Kirk Whiteman.
