James 'Silent' Gordon

[March 20, 2009]  McLEAN -- James William "Silent" Gordon Jr., 64, of McLean, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at 9:04 a.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Tony Billingsley officiating.

Burial will be in McLean Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 4, 1944, in McLean to James William Sr. and Velma Smith Gordon. He married Dorothy Carlin on Feb. 23, 1963.

He is survived by his wife; his children, April (and Jerry) Lewis of Lincoln, Marvin (and Shari) Gordon of McLean, Candy (and Richard) Anderson of Loganville, Ga., Diana Gordon of McLean, Patricia Gordon of Heyworth, and Tonya Gordon of McLean; four sisters, Kathryn Marlett of McLean, Irene (and Ben) Melton of McLean, Louise Tuggle of Clinton and Connie (Paul) Moran of McLean; one brother, Paul (and Janet) Gordon of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Director

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles "Bussy" Gordon and Cecil Gordon; and one great-grandson, Michael Gabriel Odom.
