Harry Awe

[March 24, 2009]  Harry Franklin Awe, 72, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at home with his family.

His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at New Union Cemetery.

A celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. at the Lincoln Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Greg Wooten officiating.

Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mr. Awe worked in maintenance for Lincoln Developmental Center for many years and then retired from maintenance at Logan Correctional Center in the early 1990s.

He was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Lincoln to Harry Benjamin Awe and Thelma Schmid Awe. He married Rosemary Sanders on April 4, 1959, in Lincoln. This April would mark the 50th anniversary of their wedding.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons, James Awe of Orlando, Fla., and David Awe (and companion Christina Gesner) of Lincoln; one brother, Ted Awe of Lincoln; one sister, Shirley Riddle of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Shawn (and Josie) Awe of Lincoln, Justyn Awe of Lincoln, and Jordan and Angelica Gesner of Lincoln; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Zoe Awe of Lincoln.

Funeral Directors

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He attended Lincoln Church of the Nazarene.
