[March 28, 2009]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Bank of America extended its current sponsorship with the New York Yankees after stopping talks on a larger, longer deal.

The sides spent months discussing a 20-year deal that would have included signage, special events and tickets at the new Yankee Stadium.

Bank of America, which has been the team's official bank since 1994, terminated those talks, with Yankees chief operating officer Lonn Trost saying Feb. 26 that "it just doesn't seem like this is the time to do something special with a financial institution."

BoA spokesman Joe Goode said Friday that "while we couldn't proceed with a long-term partnership, we have extended our current sponsorship agreement with the Yankees for one more year."
