Amos Talley

[May 08, 2009]  WAYNESVILLE -- Amos C. Talley, 83, of Waynesville, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Asta Care Center in Bloomington.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, rural Waynesville.

He was born May 22, 1925, in Long Beach, Calif., to William Fred and Annie Dale Dean Talley. He married Ruby Lee Pomeroy on May 9, 1946, in Franklin, Tenn. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 2003.

He is survived by his children, Virginia "Ginny" (David) Ryburn of Waynesville, Barbara Ann (and Sidney) Armstrong of Fayetteville, Ark., William "Bil" (and Lisa) Talley of Auburn, Amos Jr. (and Sharon) Talley of Pontiac, Earl (and Brenda) Talley of Fayetteville, Ark., and Roma Joy McGowan (and Donald Terrell) of Bloomington; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Director

He was also preceded in death by one sister, one brother and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Waynesville Christian Church or Waynesville Fire Department.
