Cecil McCain

[November 03, 2009]  CORNLAND -- Cecil E. McCain, 97, of Cornland, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at 12:52 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Bill Shanle officiating.

Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.

Mr. McCain was a lifetime farmer in the Mount Pulaski area.

He was born Aug. 2, 1912, south of Lincoln to Alpha Carl and Melinda E. Huffman McCain. He married Opal Mason at Bowling Green, Mo., on April 19, 1941. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2003.

He is survived by one son, Edgar H. McCain of Springfield; one stepdaughter, Jenny (and Jerry) Sams of Decatur; one grandson, Aaron (and Sara) McCain of Lincoln; and one great-granddaughter, Molly McCain of Lincoln.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Lee and Harold.

He was a member of Calvary Temple of Springfield.
