Beulah Purlee

[October 05, 2009]  Beulah G. Purlee, 98, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at St. Clara's Manor.

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

She retired from Lincoln Developmental Center in 1973 after serving many years as a clerk and typist.

She was born May 8, 1911, in Paris, Mo., to the late Harry and Myrtle Leckrone Montgomery. She married Cecil London, and he preceded her in death in the late 1980s. She then married Logan Beck, and he preceded her in death in 1995. After his death she married George Purlee.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Diane (and husband Bill) Shipton of Morton; her grandson, Todd Johnson of Metamora; three great-grandsons, Eric (and wife Brittnee) Shipton of Hopedale, Jeff (and wife Tabitha) Shipton of Morton and Airman Doug Shipton of Minot, N.D.; one great-granddaughter, Lisa Shipton of Peoria; a great-great-grandson, Justin Shipton of Morton; and a great-great-granddaughter, Angela Shipton of Hopedale.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Johnson.

She was a longtime member of Lincoln Christian Church.
