Mary Patterson

[October 05, 2009]  Mary E. Patterson, 88, affectionately known as "Mary Pat," died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at 7:50 a.m. at The Christian Village in Lincoln.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Kaley and Ryan Edgecombe officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Patterson was a retired bookkeeper.

She was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Hammond to David and Emma Strohl Yakey. She married David Sanford “Sammy” Patterson on Dec. 24, 1941, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1985.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Lee Patterson of Sherman and Alan Lee (and Linda) Patterson of Tinley Park; three grandsons, Adam and David of Tinley Park and Jordan of Sherman; two granddaughters, Angela of Tinley Park and Chelsey of Sherman; and one brother, David Yakey of Kirkland.

She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, United Methodist Women and the Rachel Circle. She was a life member of American Legion Auxiliary 263, past department president (1978-1979) of American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Illinois, and a member of McLean County Salon 253 40/8. She was also a member of Republican Women and Lincoln Woman's Club.

Funeral Director

Memorials may be made to the education fund of American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Illinois; the building fund at the American Legion; or First United Methodist Church.
