Experienced mountain bikers are invited to try this challenging,
scenic and physically demanding 3.8-mile trail that was constructed
during the summer by New Salem staff and summer seasonal workers.
Mountain bike riders will experience steep climbs and descents along
the very technical course, which will challenge the most seasoned
rider. Less seasoned riders can ride the one-mile loop Cardinal
Ridge Trail, which can be accessed at the same trailhead. The
trail does not go through the re-created log village but meanders
through the expansive wooded areas nearby.
Trail maps, water and energy bars will be given out at the
trailhead. For directions to the trailhead and information regarding
the mountain bike trail, go to
www.trailsgreenways.org/biketrail/biketrail.html or call
217-622-7009.
