[October 19, 2009]  The fifth- and sixth-grade WL-B Lady Wolverine basketball team went 3-0 in the Zion tournament and walked away with the championship.

HardwareThe Lady Wolverines started the tournament against Zion Lutheran and defeated them in a close battle, 23-21.

Brook Soebbing led the Lady Wolverines in scoring with five points and 12 rebounds. Four other players chipped in four points: Kaylyn Hoffert, Emily Martinez, Adrienne Klockenga and Kate Benner, who also added 10 rebounds. Kaylyn Hoffert played great defense and created six steals.

Zion Lutheran was led in scoring by Hailie Williams with 13 points.

The Lady Wolverines continued their vigorous play on Saturday against Chester-East Lincoln. WL-B overpowered C-EL, with the final score reading 29-12.

Kaylyn Hoffert led all scoring with nine points, Emily Martinez added six, and Megan Joseph chipped in four points. Kate Benner led all rebounders with 13 rebounds and pocketed five steals as well. Brook Soebbing also grabbed five steals.

C-EL was led in scoring by Madie Guy with five points.

The last team the Lady Wolverines had to face was Carroll Catholic. The Lady Wolverines clinched the championship with a score of 30-10.

Brook Soebbing led all scorers with 11 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds. Emily Martinez added eight points, and Kaylyn Hoffert chipped in five points.

Carroll Catholic was led in scoring by Nepollello with six points.

Congratulations to the Lady Wolverines on a hard-fought tournament.
