Abused senior relieved with local assistance

Send a link to a friend

RestaurantDear Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the Lincoln Police Department, Lincoln Ambulance Service and the Lincoln Fire Department. In August, they were of great assistance to us and a senior citizen who was the victim of elder abuse. Officer Butterfield, two paramedics and six firefighters were on hand that day to ensure the safety of the senior.

Oftentimes, seniors are neglected and left in their home to face their abusers alone. This senior had decided that enough was enough and wanted immediate action. Thanks to the above agencies, action was immediate. There are no words to truly express our thanks to them.

Elder abuse is a problem in our community that is often brushed under the rug. If you or someone you know may be a victim, you can call for help 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 1-866-800-1409.

Sincerely,

Sarah Powell
