Red Lions go to NCCAA volleyball regional

[October 28, 2009]  The Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University will take their 20-6 record into the National Christian College Athletic Association Midwest Regional Championship as the No. 1 seed. The tournament is being hosted by Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, Mich.

LCU will play their first game Friday at 5 p.m. against the winners of the match between Northland International University and Grace Bible College.

The third-place match and the championship contest will be played on Saturday.

Complete seedings and contest times are listed below.

Seedings of teams declaring for regional:

1. Lincoln Christian University

2. Moody Bible Institute

3. Maranatha Baptist Bible College

4. Northland International University

5. Grace Bible College

6. Great Lakes Christian College

The higher seeded team will be considered the home team.

Friday schedule:

• Match 1 -- 11:30 a.m., Maranatha vs. Great Lakes

• Match 2 -- 1 p.m., Northland vs. Grace

• Match 3 -- 3 p.m., Moody vs. winner of Maranatha vs. Great Lakes

• Match 4 -- 5 p.m., LCU vs. winner of Northland vs. Grace

Saturday schedule:

• Match 5 -- 11 a.m., third place

• Match 6 -- 1 p.m., championship

Award ceremony immediately follows conclusion of championship match.
