Edith Houser

[October 30, 2009]  Edith M. Houser, 56, of Lincoln, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 12:20 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the New Holland Community Center. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.

Arrangements were handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

She had been a cook at Lincoln Developmental Center, Alley-Bi Saloon in Lincoln and Tom's Lodge in Hartsburg.

She was born April 4, 1953, in Peoria to Levi "Elwood" and Shirley Ann Powell Gardner.

She is survived by her father, of Carlinville; three sisters, Jean (and Steve) Thompson of Indianapolis, Ind., Beth (and S. Jay) Stewart of Palmyra and Lynn Gardner of Oak Park; one brother, Danny Gardner of New Holland; nieces and nephews Deana Jones of Carlinville, Angela Gardner of Texas, Amy (and Scott) Weidhuner of Athens, Josh and Pete Thompson of Indianapolis, Ind., and Eric Gardner of Indiana; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
