Helen Allen

[September 02, 2009]  Helen Marie Allen, 98, of Lincoln, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at The Christian Village.

Her graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Old Union Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Russell. The Rev. Glenn Shelton will officiate.

Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and had worked as a messenger for Western Union.

She was born Nov. 18, 1911, in Lincoln to Stewart and Transylvania Roberts. She married Russell Allen on Dec. 26, 1953, in Springfield. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Lincoln.

She was a graduate of Lincoln Community High School, where she played violin in the orchestra for four years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her church.
