[September 12, 2009]  Biking Blast -- It'll be here before you know it! Join the YMCA on Sunday, Sept. 20, for a family bike ride. There will be well-marked courses of five miles with great scenic routes for the entire family to enjoy and approximately 30 miles for the enthusiasts. Ride will start at the YMCA Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue at 12:30 p.m. Registrations have already begun. Sign up early at the Y office to receive discounts. Date change: Due to rain on Sept. 20,
the Biking Blast was rescheduled to Oct. 11.

Adult Fitness -- The YMCA Fitness Crew is back in full swing. On Tuesdays, Dance Fitness highlights a variety of dance genres that will get you into shape. Punch/Kick Fitness, on Thursdays, is a mix of kickboxing, dance and martial arts. Sign up for six weeks of classes and get generous savings. Classes are at the YMCA Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue.

Megan Kissel Fall Soccer League -- Regular registrations are now over, but we are still accepting sign-ups for fall soccer. New this season is seven exciting weeks of soccer. The first week's session, Sept. 26 from 2-3:30 p.m., will be a dedication ceremony to Megan and a clinic led by LCHS soccer coach Tim Stuckey for players and coaches. Fall Volleyball League -- Regular registrations are now over, but you can still get your teams together and receive generous discounts, or come into the Y office to register and be placed on a team. Find team registration forms and more information at http://www.lincolnymca.org/Volleyball.aspx

Lincoln Area YMCA art instructor Marion Doble will offer Printmaking Art to first- to third-grade children on Monday, Oct. 12, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the YMCA Activity Center. Children can try their hand at carving their own print plate, putting "ink" on the surface, laying paper on top and creating their own prints. This class will follow traditions of master artists and printmakers Leonardo da Vinci and Edward Munch. Member and nonmember rates apply. Fees increase after the Oct. 5 registration deadline. (See

Nursing Homes

Registration forms are now available for the School's Out Fun Days on Oct. 9 and 12. Both dates are for District 27 children, and C-EL students can attend on Oct. 12. These are thematically planned, fun-filled "mini-camp" days offered to kindergarten to sixth-grade children on weekdays when school is not in session. Fun Days are at the YMCA Activity Center, 719 Wyatt Ave. YMCA Before and After School staff members lead activities, lessons, playtime and more. Fee increases apply after registration deadlines, which are two weeks prior to each Fun Day. (See
