Stieren pitches gem; Lynx split with SCI

[April 20, 2010]  The Lincoln College Lynx hosted Springfield College for a doubleheader on Thursday.

Game 1 -- SCI put up an eight-run fourth en route to a 16-6 win over the Lynx (7-12). Logan Leesman (2-2) started for the Lynx, giving up five runs in three innings of work.

InsuranceBrad Passini, 2-3 with a double and two RBIs, and former Lincoln Railer Colan Eigenbrod, with a solo home run, were the only offensive support for the Lynx.

Game 2 -- Raymond-Lincolnwood alum and 2009 state champion Luke Stieren pitched a complete-game, three-hit shutout over the Bulldogs 3-0 to pick up a split on the day.  Stieren struck out four SCI batters in his 102-pitch effort, lowering his team-leading season ERA to 1.54.

Tyler Wallin and Zac Carpenter both collected two hits in three at-bats to lead the offensive attack for the Lynx. Colan Eigenbrod was also 1-3 with an RBI.

The Lynx will host Lincoln Christian University today (Friday) at 3 p.m.
