Mrs. Kindred retired from General Electric after 33
years with the company. She was born on Oct. 2,
1926, in Lincoln. Her parents were Donald C. and
Nelva Wise Menzel. She married Arthur "Ed" Edward
Kindred on Feb. 2, 1945, in Atlanta. He preceded her
in death on Oct. 8, 2009.
She is survived by one daughter, Betsy (and Eric)
Shifflet of Waynesville; two granddaughters, Erica
(and Mike) Roehm of Bloomington and Andrea Shifflet
(and Jim Rhoades) of Galesburg; one sister, Bettie
J. (and Don) Turner of Atlanta; and one brother,
Donald C. (and Kay) Menzel Jr. of Tampa, Fla.
She was a member of Atlanta Christian Church.
She was a 1944 graduate of Atlanta High School.
Juanita loved to travel with family, visiting
Europe, Hawaii and Florida. She was an avid
bicyclist and golfer and spent much of her time
playing cards with friends. She will be remembered
for her carefree spirit and devotion to her family.
