Norman Hunter

[April 12, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Norman L. Hunter, 83, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at 11:45 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elkhart Christian Church, Elkhart, with Robert Twist officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, with military rites.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Hunter worked for many years at the Stetson China factory in Lincoln and retired in 1990 from Pittsburg Plate Glass, where he was a sealer.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1944 to 1946.

He was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Springfield. His parents were Ernest and Florence Philips Hunter.

He is survived by one sister, Ethel Cecil of Lincoln; a sister-in-law, Eva Halladay of Elkhart; and many nieces and nephews.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of Elkhart Christian Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Lincoln Council 1250 and was former district director of Illinois.

Funeral Director

He was a member of the Logan County Sportsman Club and the National Wildlife Federation. He was well-known in the area as a horseman.

Memorials may be made to Elkhart Christian Church.
