Anne Holst

[August 18, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Anne Teresa Holst, 80, of Lincoln, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at 9:22 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor after an extended illness.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 28 at South Side Christian Church, 2600 S. MacArthur Blvd. in Springfield. Jason Wetherholt will officiate.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker; however, she worked at various housekeeping jobs throughout the years.

She was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Waterloo, Wis. Her parents were Andrew and Jewell Murphy Hamilton. She married Curtis J. Holst in June 1954 in Aurora. They made their home in Aurora and had three children together. They divorced, and he preceded her in death in December of 1997.

She is survived by one son, Patrick Holst of Granville; two daughters, Virginia Holst of Chicago and Julie (and Jeff) Higginson of Fancy Prairie; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis (and Theresa) Hamilton of Sun Prairie, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Catherine Brady.

Anne enjoyed reading, watching her favorite TV shows and taking long drives through the countryside. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her extended family, children and grandchildren.

Anne's family expresses deepest appreciation to the nurses and staff of St. Clara's Manor for their years of devoted attendance to her every need during her residence there and to Springfield's Memorial Home Service hospice care for all their tenderhearted kindness during their mother's last few weeks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Clara's Manor, 200 Fifth St., Lincoln, IL 62656.
