Bertie Shoemaker

[August 20, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Bertie B. Shoemaker, 93, of Lincoln, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at 10:45 a.m. at The Christian Village Nursing Home.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Ryan Edgecombe officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary 's Cemetery.

Mrs. Shoemaker had been employed at Spurgeon 's, JCPenney and Kroger.

She was born June 22, 1917, in Florence, Mo. Her parents were George and Florence Robertson. She married James G. "Bill" Shoemaker on Nov. 30, 1940, in Bowling Green, Mo.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Bruce (and Shirley) Shoemaker of Crest Hill; one sister, Doris DeJarnette of Tipton, Mo.; one brother, Richard Robertson of Tipton, Mo.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

She was also preceded in death by one son, James Richard Shoemaker; four brothers; and three sisters.

Bertie was an avid golfer, a former member of the Lincoln Emblem Club and a bridge club member.

Memorials may be to the Elks Charitable Trust Fund or the Christian Village Nursing Home.
