Robert Rankin

[August 31, 2010]  NEW HOLLAND -- Robert Lee Rankin, 69, of New Holland, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at 4:25 a.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Middletown Presbyterian Church, with Allan Dean officiating.

Burial will be in Lucas Chapel Cemetery, rural Lincoln.

Mr. Rankin worked at Cross Brothers as parts coordinator and was a mechanic for 47 years.

He was born Aug. 17, 1941, in Logan County. His parents were Offie A. and Esther Ritchart Rankin. He married Bonnie Dye on Oct. 7, 1962, at the Middletown Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, of New Holland; one son, Robert Lee (and Jo) Rankin II of Columbia, Mo.; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn (and Rick) Kidd of Williamsville; two brothers, Richard (and Janell) Rankin of Rocheport, Mo., and Elmer (and Mardell) Rankin of Petersburg; three sisters, Esther Boward of Middletown, Mary Hildebrandt of Lincoln and Frances (and Donald) Banister of Springfield; and five grandchildren, Stephanie Kidd, Katlyn Rankin, Kristopher "Buddy" Rankin III, Katryna Rankin and Kassie Rankin.

Funeral Director

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Offie "Jim," Kenneth, Harold and John Rankin; and two sisters, Patricia and Margaret Rankin.

He was a member of the Lincoln Antique Tractor and Engine Club Association, Illinois Limousin Association, and a school board member for New Holland-Middletown for 12 years.

Memorials may be made to the Logan County 4-H Foundation or to the family.
