[December 01, 2010]  LINCOLN -- David James Larson, 58, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at 5:03 a.m. at his home.

A memorial service for Mr. Larson will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Chaplain Tim Haworth officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion post

No visitation is scheduled.

Mr. Larson was a journeyman welder.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was born Jan. 4, 1952, in Lincoln. His parents were John Elmer and Marjorie Elizabeth Griffith Larson.

He is survived by his companion, Chris Simmons; his children, Jessica (and Scott) Kunzicker and Sean Larson, both of Austin, Texas; and his siblings, Marjorie Ann (and Don) Sapp of Atlanta, John Charles (and Linda) Larson of Lombard, Thomas Robert (and Betty) Larson of Lincoln and Mary Elizabeth Virginia (and Randy) Christy of Villa Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of the American Legion.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970.

Memorials may be made to Gifts for Yanks through American Legion Post 263.
