Margaret Wilmert

[December 09, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Margaret A. Wilmert, 98, of Lincoln, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at the Christian Nursing Home.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John United Church of Christ. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Margaret was born Jan. 16, 1912. Her parents were Marion and Sue Primm Sparks. She married Clifford Wilmert in 1938.

She is survived by her son, John C. Wilmert of Lincoln; three granddaughters, Yolanda (and Doug) Martin of California, Stacey Marten (and Chris) of Litchfield and Dana (and John) Damm of St. Louis, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Munsch of Lincoln; and one brother, Marion "Jay" Sparks Jr. of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Russell and Wayne Sparks.

She was a schoolteacher in a one-room schoolhouse for eight years.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Pairs and Spares at the church, the Lucas Chapel Dinner Club, and the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Funeral Directors

She was particularly fond of Abraham Lincoln and how his heritage was connected to hers. She collected Abraham Lincoln memorabilia.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John United Church of Christ.
