[January 04, 2010]  Linda Mardele Marsh, 61, of Lincoln, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

A memorial gathering will be at 5 p.m. Monday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. A memorial service will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Dustin Fulton of Jefferson Street Christian Church officiating.

Linda was born March 6, 1948, in Chicago, a daughter of Melvin and Eva Pletcher Peyton. She married Alan "Pete" Marsh on April 7, 1971, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

She is survived by her parents, Melvin and Eva Peyton of Sheffield, Iowa; her husband, of Lincoln; three daughters, Leona (and husband John) Hughes of Lincoln, Penny (and husband Jeff) Bailey of Lincoln and Nikole (and husband Mike) Stonecipher of Lincoln; four granddaughters, Naomi Bailey, Emily Robbins, Isabel Robbins and Addison Stonecipher; two brothers, Terry Peyton of Falmouth, Mass., and Mark Peyton of Iowa; and one sister, Sharon Smit of Sheffield, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Larry, and two nephews, Timmy and Danny.

Linda was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Family was the most important thing to her. She hardly had a friend that she didn't consider family. Love is what her life was all about. That love will live on in the lives of each person that she touched.

The family extends a special thank you to the nursing staff at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital and to Dr. Wahab and his staff for the loving care they showed to Linda and to all of the family.
