Thomas Culnan

[January 16, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Thomas Edward Culnan, 66, of Lincoln, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at 5:40 p.m. at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, following the rosary at 4:45 p.m.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Jeff Laible officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mr. Culnan was a retired engineer. He was a very dedicated employee of Eaton Corp. for 43 years.

He was born Jan. 22, 1943, in Lincoln to Edward Thomas and Marie Florence Plut Culnan.

He is survived by one son, Brian (and Arienna) Culnan of Laramie, Wyo.; one daughter, Karen (and Jeff) Flagg of Greeley, Colo.; two sisters, OSF Sister Mary Beth Culnan of Springfield and Anita Daly of Taylorville; and four grandchildren, Brienna and Alex Culnan, Ross Keys, and Jordan Flagg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

He was a member of Holy Family Church, a member of the Society of Manufacturing of Engineers and a supporter of the United Way.

Funeral Director

He was recognized in 2009 for his continued service of 24-plus years to the city of Lincoln's zoning appeals board.

He enjoyed golfing, his car and was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed his visits out West to visit his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.
