Letters to the Editor

Lincoln Daily News welcomes letters of appreciation, information and opinion on matters pertaining to the community.

Controversial issues:
As a community we need to be able to talk openly about matters that affect the quality of our lives. The most effective and least offensive manner to get your point across is to stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on another person's opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor:

Thanks to all who helped to promote and work the preregistration night Jan. 14! We had 56 people preregister that evening. The Knights of Columbus had some great free appetizers! And Kevin Curry played some great music! Grace Curry especially enjoyed the "Go, Cubs, Go" song!! Thanks to Roger Matson who provided some great door prizes! The Illini video chair went to Greg Crossman, the DVD/video combo went to Jerry Davis, and Erinn Juhl won the nice sofa throw.

Last I checked this morning, we have 96 signed up online so far!! Great! Let's keep it going! Participants can still sign up. Stop by Action Rental and Sales to pick up a packet, contact the Area 10 Special Olympics office at 428-9255, or sign up online at www.soill.org and click on Lincoln Lakes Plunge.

Thanks again.

Our next committee meeting will be on Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Blue Room of the 911 center.
