Ronald Hardy

[January 20, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Ronald W. Hardy, 59, of Lincoln, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at 11:55 p.m. at his home.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, where military rites will be conducted.

Mr. Hardy was employed with the Lincoln Police Department for 26 years.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

He was born Aug. 4, 1950, in Lincoln, to Donald and Geraldine Noble Hardy. He married Leah "Kathy" Usherwood on July 23, 1989, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons, Shawn (and Amy) Hardy of Abington, Mass., and Chad (and Rebecca) Hardy of East Bridgewater, Mass.; one daughter, Colleen (and Rich) Demar of Fitchburg, Mass.; one brother, Edward Hardy of Lincoln; two sisters, Connie (and Willliam) Yeazle of Atlanta and Joyce (and Dan) Bartlett of Florida; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Humane Society of the United States.
