[July 03, 2010]  SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois State Fair is looking for volunteers to help in a number of areas throughout the 10 days of this year’s fair. These areas include information booths, various buildings, the Illinois State Fair Museum and the new interactive agricultural exhibit, "Farmer’s Little Helpers."

HardwareA minimum of 15 hours of service is required for all information booth, building and Illinois State Fair Museum volunteers. However, additional hours may be requested. "Farmer’s Little Helpers" volunteers can chose from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. shifts or 2:15 p.m.-7:15 p.m. shifts.

"The Illinois State Fair draws nearly three-quarters of a million people to the fairgrounds in Springfield each year," said Amy Bliefnick, state fair manager. "The men and women who donate their time to the fair are a big part of its success."

All volunteers will receive a free 2010 Illinois State Fair T-shirt, plus complimentary admission and parking.

Applications can be obtained by visiting www.illinoisstatefair.info. There will be a training workshop for applicants on Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. in the Emmerson Building.
