[July 08, 2010]  LINCOLN -- John Wallace Brown, 86, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 2:50 p.m. at home with his family.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday at Jefferson Street Christian Church. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with Frank Bush and Wayne Armstrong officiating.

Burial will follow in New Union Cemetery.

Mr. Brown retired from the Wyman Gordon Co. of Harvey as an industrial electrician in 1986 after 41 years of service.

He served in the U.S. Army Ordnance and was in the Pacific for three years.

He was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Canton. His parents were Fred and Thelma Lawson Brown. He married Veronica Obrenski on Feb. 21, 1948, in Markham.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, of Lincoln; his sons, Michael D. (and Penny) Brown of Indianapolis, Ind., Devin G. (and Sharon) Brown of Lexington, Ky., and Todd F. (and Pat) Brown of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Hilary (and Skye) Bloemke, Justin Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Valentine Brown and Ransome Brown; and two great-granddaughters, Isabella Brown and Camille Bloemke.

Funeral Directors

He was an active member of Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln.

He graduated from Thornton High School in Harvey in 1941.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Memorial Hospice, the Logan County Food Pantry or Together for Lincoln.
