MOUNT PULASKI -- G. Loren Meister, 79,
of Mount Pulaski, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at 11:15 p.m. at
Vonderlieth Living Center.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. His
funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in
Mount Pulaski. |
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery, where
military rites will be accorded.
Mr. Meister was a retired farmer.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He served as a
staff sergeant during the Korean War.
He was born Nov. 23, 1930, in rural Mount
Pulaski. His parents were George Lee and Florence
Downing Meister. He married Phyllis Wilson of
Clinton on April 18, 1956.
He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski;
three sons, David (and Terri) Meister of Mount
Pulaski, Gary (and Jeryn) Meister of Riverton and
Jeff Meister of Mount Pulaski; seven grandchildren,
Andy, Amy, Alexa, Kayla, Kendal, Jenna and Jacob
Meister; two stepgrandchildren, Jenae Witty and Cory
Yannone; one step-great-grandson, Jakob Witty; and
one sister, Audrey Werntz of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one
sister, Maxine Casad.
He was a lifelong member of the Mount Pulaski
United Methodist Church.
He was a 57-year member of American Legion Post
447, where he was a past commander and commander of
the honor guard for many years. He was a member of
the Sons of the American Legion, where he also
served as adviser since its inception in 1984. He
was a member of Voiture 985 of 40 & 8, and a 53-year
member of the Lincoln Elks. |
He had worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture
in the Farm Service Agency since 1954 and was the
chairman for the Logan County committee for several
years.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist
Church of Mount Pulaski, American Legion Post 447 or
the donor's choice.
