Barbara Nadine Proctor

[July 20, 2010]  MASON CITY -- Barbara Nadine Emery Proctor, 83, of Mason City, died peacefully Monday, July 19, 2010, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, surrounded by loving family.

A celebration of her life will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at American Legion Post 263 in Lincoln.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen in Springfield.

Mrs. Proctor and her husband built up the family farm until retirement, when they wintered in Naples, Fla.

She was born in Keyesport on Aug. 4, 1926. Her parents were Cash V. and Harrie Carter Emery. She married Fred A. "Fritz" Proctor in 1944, and they celebrated their 65th anniversary on June 26, 2009. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2010.

She is survived by her children, Mike (and Shirley) Proctor, Maureen (and Dick) Damarin and Jean (and Andy) Meikle-Basden; 10 grandchildren, Kim, Michael, Jody, John, Jason, John Jr., Kelly, Jackie, Katie and Brittiany; 11 great-grandchildren and another expected; and family pet Mister II.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, David Emery; a son-in-law, John Meikle; and grandsons Jeff Damarin and John Meikle.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Mason City, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Emblem Club of the Elks Lodge, both of Lincoln.

Nadine enjoyed the Cardinals, U of I sports and the Packers.

She graduated in 1944 from Lincoln High School in Lincoln.

Memorials can be made to the flag replacement project of American Legion Post 496 in Mason City or to a charity of the donor's choice.
