ATLANTA
-- Norma Swier, 74, of Atlanta, formerly of Bloomington, died
Sunday, June 6, 2010, at 10:59 p.m. at Advocate BroMenn Medical
Center in Normal.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Atlanta
Christian Church. Her funeral will follow at 7 p.m. at the church,
with Maurice Stribling officiating. Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge
of arrangements.
Mrs. Swier was the church secretary for the First
Assembly of God in Normal and later retired as the
secretary of the Atlanta Christian Church.
She was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Dexter, Mo. Her
parents were William Paul and Mae Elizabeth White
Eddens. Her mother preceded her in death when Norma
was 8 months old. She was then raised by her beloved
grandparents, William Porter and Dora Ella Baker
Eddens. She married George Arthur Swier on Aug. 22,
1959, in Kankakee. He preceded her in death on June
9, 1991.
She is survived by three children, "Chip" George
Arthur Jr. (and June) Swier of Kenosha, Wis.,
William Andrew (and Jan) Swier of Bloomington and
Elizabeth Swier Pomrenke of Bloomington; six
grandsons, Brian Arthur (and Michelle) Swier,
Brandon William Swier, Caleb Andrew Swier, Jacob
William Swier, Aaron Robert Wollenschlager and Jason
John Wollenschlager; one great-granddaughter,
Madeleine Tanner Swier; three brothers, Harold (and
Pat) Joseph, Jim (and Vicky) Eddens and Bernard
Eddens; four sisters, Wanda (and Edward) Barker,
Diana (and J.C.) Abernathy, Sue Kelley and Carolyn
(and Dale) Putnam; a sister-in-law, Luanne Grube;
and many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Bloomfield High School in
Bloomfield, Mo., and attended Southeast Missouri
State College in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the choir of the Atlanta
Christian Church.
