[March 04, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Catherine M. King, 87, of Newton, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at The Christian Village.

Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Crain Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the service time.

Burial will be in Brockville Cemetery, rural Newton. 

Mrs. King owned and operated a country store in Falmouth for many years and was a pediatric nurse's aide at the hospital in Olney.

She was born May 4, 1922, in Hunt City. Her parents were Theodore and Livie Jane Sears Harrison Ping. She married William M. King on Sept. 12, 1939, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2000.

She is survived by her four daughters, Linda (and John) Lee of St. Charles, Mo., Gail (and Gordon) Robards of Tacoma, Wash., Billie (and Terry) Scales of Monticello and Debra (and Randall) Bruns of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, Brad (and Lori) Lee, Peggy Lee (and Hal) Kinsey, Jim (and Kelly) Lee, Andrew (and Maria) Lee, Tonya Robards (and Eric) Rimbey, Emily Robards (and Jerry) Ryan, Matthew (and Christine) Scales, Justin (and Elizabeth) Bruns and Blair Bruns; and 12 great-grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters. 

Catherine accepted Christ as her Savior in the 1930s, and in 1950 she became a member of the Falmouth Church of Christ, where she served faithfully for many years as a Sunday school teacher and youth group leader.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, bowling, and preparing meals for and visiting with her family.
