Lynx place 3 on all-conference team

[March 09, 2010]  The Lincoln College men's basketball team placed three members on the all-conference team. Chris Ware was named to the first team of the MWAC and also captured honors as player of the year. Kenyon Smith, an Illinois State signee, was selected to the second team, and Kiel Turpin, a freshman, was selected to the third team.

Conference statistics:

  • Chris Ware, a preseason all-American, 15.5 points per game, 7.8 rebounds, 59.8 percent field goals, 78 percent free throws

  • Kenyon Smith, 12.1 points per game, 5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 45 percent field goals, 45 percent 3-point field goals, 72.5 percent free throws, 2.41 steals

  • Kiel Turpin, 11.3 points per game, 7.6 rebounds, 58.5 percent field goals, 2.3 blocks

The Lynx finished the year 24-6 (14-2) and just won the Region 24A championship to push their record to 26-6.

The team will travel to Danville to compete in the NJCAA national tournament, which starts on March 16. The brackets will be available at www.njcaa.org.
