Controversial issues:
As a

matters that affect the quality of our lives. The
most effective and least offensive manner to get

To the editor: With the upcoming departure of Chief Erlenbush, we
would like to highly recommend Rich Montcalm for this position. He
has the education, experience and the integrity to be our next chief
of police.
He has a master's degree in law enforcement administration as
well as a certificate in executive management. He has over 19 years
experience in law enforcement, as well as teaching at colleges and
universities.
He has a wonderful rapport with the citizens of Logan County as
well as with the children of Logan County by being a mentor, friend
and coach to them.
[to top of second column in this letter] |
He is a proven leader by past accomplishments. While serving as
our past chief of police, he obtained $200,000 in grants to assist
the city government and the department budget; he reduced the crime
rate by 6 percent over a two-year period; he has been recognized by
the Illinois Chiefs of Police Association for the implementation of
the police department's development with the community policing
philosophy; and he has also developed procedures and policies to
enhance the department while working within the budget.
There are so many more reasons why Rich Montcalm should be our
next police chief, but this decision is up to our city of Lincoln
aldermen to make, so we urge everyone to contact theirs in support
of who would be the best choice for the city of Lincoln police
chief: Rich Montcalm, someone with a strong work ethic, the best
education for this position, a proven leader and a love for this
community.
