William 'Bill' Duhs

[March 10, 2010]  MOUNT PULASKI -- William A. "Bill" Duhs, 80, of Mount Pulaski, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 3 a.m. in Springfield after suffering from a series of strokes.

The family will have a private burial at Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

There is no visitation.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Mr. Duhs retired from the State Journal-Register after 34 years as a pressman. He also hauled grain for the East Lincoln grain elevator for 16 years.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1953, during the Korean War.

He was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Springfield. His parents were Albert and Marguerite Washbond Duhs. He married Lois W. Mason in Springfield on March 5, 1954.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Vickie (and Jack) Leininger of Springfield; and special cousins George (and Sandy) Washbond of Mount Pulaski, Margaret (and Victor) Schrishuhn of Mount Pulaski, Rosie Boyd of Lincoln and Georgia Tate of Reidsville, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Director

He was a member of the former Copeland Christian Church, Mount Pulaski Masonic Blue Lodge AF & AM, Ansar Shrine of Springfield, and the Scottish Rite of Springfield.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
