Red Lions on spring baseball trip

[March 11, 2010]  The baseball team from Lincoln Christian University is currently on its annual spring trip. The Red Lions have registered a 1-4 record through Tuesday, with one more doubleheader scheduled before they return.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Red Lions won their first game of the season by defeating Johnson Bible College 11-5. Richard Weese was the winning pitcher, with nine strikeouts recorded, and he added a double and home run with four runs batted in. Seth Martin had four hits while Clay Foster and Chris Hedrick each added three hits.

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. -- The Red Lions dropped two games to Toccoa Falls, the NCCAA No. 1-ranked team in the nation. LCU dropped the first game 14-4, with Weese, Jarrod Nassiff, and Justin Walen each garnering two hits. LCU lost the second game to Toccoa Falls 12-2. Walen, Nassiff and Josh Bennett had two hits each.

PARAGOULD, Ark. -- The Red Lions dropped two games to Crowley’s Ridge. In the first game CR prevailed 10-3, with Nick Walters and Foster each getting two hits. In the second game Weese, Andrew Scates and Bennett each had two hits in a 6-2 loss.
