[March 12, 2010]  SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) -- Young Elvis is getting the message from the Texas Rangers.

Manager Ron Washington has been emphasizing this spring to shortstop Elvis Andrus to remain focused after a solid debut a year ago, when he was runner-up for the AL Rookie of the Year Award.

The 21-year-old Andrus short-hopped a routine throw one game this week. The next day, he made an incredible play deep in the hole, getting a runner out while throwing with his feet off the ground and falling away from the base.

What Washington really liked was Andrus' reaction to the botched play. Washington says Andrus was "truly upset," a sign that he is focused on getting better.
