Erwin Leistner

[March 26, 2010]  BLOOMINGTON -- Erwin L. Leistner, 65, of Bloomington, formerly of Tell City, Ind., died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at 4:38 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Ron Otto officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mr. Leistner was a truck driver for 21 years and retired from Univar Corp. in Normal in 2004.

He was born Dec. 16, 1944, in Mount Vernon, Ind., the son of Earl and Olivia Hildenbrand Leistner. He married Martha R. Babbs on Sept. 2, 1995, in New Boston, Ind.

He is survived by his wife, of Bloomington; his parents, of New Boston, Ind.; one son, Jonathon V. (and Malissa) Leistner of Champaign; three stepsons, Donald Edward (and Cindy) Babbs of Hubert, N.C., James Arthur Babbs of Manito and Robert Fredrick (and Debra) Babbs of Lincoln; one stepdaughter, Barbara Jean Babbs of Connecticut; one sister, June (and Patrick) Peter of Tell City, Ind.; one grandchild and 12 stepgrandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; one nephew, Dale (and Lori) Peter of Dale, Ind.; and two great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by one stepgranddaughter, Rachelle Kirston Babbs.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.
