Helen Zumwalt

[May 06, 2010]  EMDEN -- Helen M. Zumwalt, 88, of Emden, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 7:50 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Schurter officiating. Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mrs. Zumwalt was a homemaker.

She was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Emden. Her parents were Harry and Gertie Eeten Klokkenga. She married James Robert Zumwalt on Feb. 1, 1952, and he preceded her in death Dec. 20, 2008.

She is survived by one son, Larry A. (and Cathy) Zumwalt of Emden; one daughter, Roberta (and Butch) Hildebrandt of Springfield; one sister, Ruth Klokkenga of Lincoln; one brother, Harry (and Joanne) Klokkenga of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Melinda (and Curtis) Reiners of Hudson and Angie Zumwalt of Normal; and one great-grandchild, Carter James Reiners.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mayme Bruns and Florence Lolling.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Ladies Aid.
