Eugene 'Junior' Henderson

[May 12, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Eugene "Junior" Henderson, 78, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at his home.

A private family service will be on Friday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Henderson retired from the Illinois Central Railroad after 34 years. He was fondly known by his co-workers as "Arkie."

He was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Pontotoc, Miss. His parents were Ottie Eugene and Vada Belle Jaco Henderson. He married Carma Marie Cox on April 4, 1953, in Pontotoc, Miss.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; four daughters, Tina (and Bill) Workman of Lincoln, Carla (and Dave) Bender of Lincoln, Kathy (and Mike) Schielack of LaPorte, Texas, and Brenda (and Eric) Skees of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth Henderson, Curtis Henderson and Jimmy Henderson, all of Van Buren, Ark.; and three sisters, Marie Freeman of Little Rock, Ark., Mildred Higgins of Van Buren, Ark., and Belinda Lucas of Atlanta.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.

Funeral Directors

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Building Fund or to the Logan County Paramedic Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
