Charles 'Woody' Mattingly

[May 14, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Charles Henry "Woody" Mattingly, 82, of Lincoln, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at 12:45 a.m. at The Christian Village.

He body was cremated.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery at a later date.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Mr. Mattingly worked as a fireman for the city of Lincoln for 23 years and retired as assistant fire chief.

He was an Army Air Force veteran.

He was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Mount Pulaski. His parents were Henry William and Josephine Utterback Mattingly. He married Dorothy E. Jones on May 7, 1966, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Woodrow and Homer; and two sisters, Helen Mattingly and Anna Louise Goodbrake.

Funeral Director

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He graduated from Mount Pulaski High School.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lincoln Fire Department or the donor's choice.
