William 'DJ' DeJarnette

[May 27, 2010]  LINCOLN -- William Harold "DJ" DeJarnette, 80, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at 10:45 p.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

His graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Union Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Kaley officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 263.

There is no visitation.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. DeJarnette was a retired U.S. postal worker and farmed in the Beason-Chestnut area.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was born June 10, 1929, in Logan County to Linn and Alice Whitaker DeJarnette. He married Lorene Luckart, who preceded him in death in 1987. He later married Debra Sanders on April 28, 2000, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one son, William H. (and Taffy) DeJarnette of St. Joseph; one stepdaughter, Marni (and Moe) Ary of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren, Tyrus (and Mandy) DeJarnette, Noel DeJarnette and Madeline DeJarnette.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn and Kermit. He was the last of his immediate family.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln Public Library or the American Heart Association.
