Ethel Cecil

[November 12, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Ethel V. Halladay Cecil, 89, of Lincoln, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at home, surrounded by her family.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton.

Mrs. Cecil was employed at Lehn & Fink in Lincoln for 20 years.

She was born May 10, 1921, in Escanaba, Mich. Her parents were Truman Halladay and Florence Phillips Halladay Hunter. She married Kenneth L. Cecil on Dec. 24, 1957, in Bondville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1998.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Meredith of Oregon and Carol (and Barry) Dutz of Lincoln; one son, Gary (and Mary Anne) Cecil of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Lori (and Dan) Baldwin Garcia of Oregon, Paul Baldwin of Colorado, Brian D. Dutz of Decatur, Holly Anne (and Rick) McGlothlin of Pekin and Daniel Newtson of Indiana; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Amanda Baldwin of Colorado, Katelyn Dutz of Petersburg, Blake Dutz of Jacksonville, Keaton Polen of Pekin, and Kyle McEvers of Pekin; and one great-great-grandchild, Jayden L. Papesch of Petersburg.

She was also preceded in death by one son, John Newtson; one grandson, David L. Baldwin; two brothers, Robert Halladay and Phillip Halladay; two half sisters, Mary Ann Rankin and Dorothy Boward; and a half brother, Norman L. Hunter.

She was of the Baptist faith.
