John Starling

[November 17, 2010]  LINCOLN -- John Paul Starling, 72, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at 9:59 p.m. at his home.

His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at a later date.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Starling was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 218.

He was born Feb. 15, 1938, in Springfield. His parents were George and Jacqueline Link Starling. He married Dorothy Smith on Sept. 5, 1959.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one son, George Steven (and Penny) Starling of Dawson; one daughter, Paula Jo Starling (and Ken) Latkovich of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren, Tammy (and Mike) Burris, Brittany Starling, Jon Starling and Lexi Latkovich; one great-grandchild, Lucy Burris; three brothers, Jim (and Beverly) Starling of Peoria, Charles (Sharon) Starling of Springfield and William Starling of Springfield; two sisters, Georgie Erlenbush of Edinburg and Marianne Charles of Springfield; a special niece, Robin Agee, of Middletown; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Director

He was a member of Holy Family Church and Lincoln Elks Lodge.

He loved golfing, hunting, fishing and being with his grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or Holy Family Catholic Church.
