[November 22, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Donald E. Carter, 63, of Lincoln, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at 4:43 a.m. at his home.

He was cremated.

The family will meet with friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Carter retired in 2002 from Lincoln Developmental Center, where he worked as a security guard.

He was born July 21, 1947, in Lincoln. His parents were James and Flossie Cronwell Carter.

He is survived by his companion and caregiver, Shirley Holloway of Lincoln; two sons, Jeffrey Carter of Lincoln and Michael Carter of Atlanta; stepchildren Michelle (and Tim) Aper and Larry (and Tabitha) Lancaster; one brother, James (and Louise) Carter of Elkhart; one sister, Marie Prince of Lincoln; grandchildren Cameron Felton, Destiny, Leslie and Chance Vincent, Brandon Aper, Tyler, Savannah, Sturgis, Kitiara and Torey Lancaster, Justin Babbitt, Hunter and Mason Lancaster, and Courtney Miller; five great-grandchildren, Lily Leeann Grable, Jerzie and Bosco Jones, Sturgis Lancaster, and Holly Hulen; three nephews; and one niece.

Funeral Director

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Don Prince.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
