Christina Sherman

[November 26, 2010]  ATLANTA -- Christina Mae Sherman, 84, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at 8:20 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Maurice Stribling officiating.

Burial be at a later date in Atlanta Cemetery.

Mrs. Sherman worked at the post office in Atlanta for 21 years and served as postmaster for the last five of those years.

She was born July 7, 1926, in Bloomington. Her parents were Theodore and Florence Blakney Leslie. She married Harry Sherman on July 3, 1949, in Bloomington.

She is survived by her husband; her children, Sally (and Randy) Geddert, John (and Karen) Sherman and Mark Sherman, all of Atlanta; seven grandchildren, Leslie (and Rob) Johnson, Marshall Geddert, Elisha (and Dustin) Harksen, Ryne (and Georgena) Sherman, Jordan Sherman, Brent Sherman and Chelsea Sherman; and three great-grandchildren, Randi Lynn Ragland, Maddux Harksen and Mylah Harksen.

She was preceded in death by one brother, David Leslie.

She was a member of Atlanta Christian Church, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Atlanta Junior Woman's Club and the Postmasters union.

She graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta American Legion post, Atlanta Rescue Squad or Atlanta Christian Church.
